Terms of use

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This is an English translation for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.

1. Scope and provider

These terms apply to the use of the GlowCamp app, to sharing a trip via a private link, including the web page on glowcamp.de on which the shared trip is displayed (link page), and, from version 1.12.0, to the optional GlowCamp account and everything that comes with it (friends, public trips, Campfire, community info, Sections 12–14), as well as to GlowCamp Pro (Section 15). The provider is EDV-Technik Dennis Weimer, owner Dennis Weimer; you will find the address and further details in the legal notice. In these terms, “we” and “us” refer to the provider, and “you” refers to you as a user.

How we handle your data is not set out here but in the privacy policy, and for sharing via link in particular in Section 6b.

You do not need an account for the app or for sharing via link. These terms apply as soon as you use the sharing feature for the first time, i.e. create a link for a trip, or as soon as you create an account or buy GlowCamp Pro; the app will point this out to you beforehand. Sharing via link is permitted from the age of 16, and an account likewise only from the age of 16 (Section 12). If you are younger, you may only use it with the consent of your parents or legal guardians.

2. Our services

Sharing is optional. You switch it on for each trip individually and choose which places, photos and diary entries are included. Nothing is shared unless you switch it on.

The app offers you default settings and warnings. You yourself are responsible for the settings you choose and for whom you give the link to.

While driving: Whoever is driving does not operate the app. The recording runs by itself; you take care of settings, sharing and photos when stationary, or leave them to your passenger.

4. Your content and your responsibility

Content is everything you share via link, with friends or publicly: places and route, photos, the trip name, names of places and destinations, diary entries and, if you wish, the first names of your travel companions; with an account, also your profile name and profile picture, hearts and comments in Campfire and the info you share about sites, petrol stations and sights. You are responsible for this content. The following applies to everything you share:

By sharing, you warrant that you hold the necessary rights to your content and that it complies with these rules. When you select photos, the app points this out to you.

Your rights remain yours. So that we can display your content the way you have set it up, you allow us to store it, process it technically (e.g. to reduce the size of photos and remove metadata) and display it on the link page. This permission is simple (non-exclusive), free of charge and limited to display at the level you have chosen (link, friends, public, Campfire or community info); we do not use your content for advertising and do not pass it on to others. It ends as soon as you withdraw an item of content, switch off sharing, the link or the share expires, or you delete your account. Shared community info is only included as a total without your name; if you withdraw it, we recalculate the totals. The only exceptions are copies in our server backups, which are overwritten after 30 days at the latest, and copies that others have made themselves (e.g. screenshots); we have no control over these.

You are responsible for ensuring that you are allowed to share photos and information about other people. For identifiably depicted people you need their consent, and for children the consent of their parents or legal guardians. If third parties assert claims against us because content you have shared infringes their rights, you shall indemnify us against these claims and the reasonable costs of legal defence, insofar as you are responsible for the infringement.

5. Expiry, withdrawal and deletion

6. Reporting

If a shared trip breaks the law or these terms, e.g. because a photo shows you without your consent, report it to us via “Report” at the bottom of the link page, in the app (for trips, Campfire posts, comments, profiles and community info) or by e-mail to support@glowcamp.de. This address is also our point of contact for users and for authorities. Please state the link, which content is affected and why it is unlawful or breaches these terms.

For the link page and for content shared with an account, we are a hosting service, and for public trips and community info an online platform, within the meaning of the Digital Services Act (DSA). Our single point of contact is support@glowcamp.de (German or English). We accept reports via “Report” on the link page, in the app or by e-mail and decide on them carefully, impartially and without automated decision-making. We remove unlawful content as soon as we become aware of it. We have no general obligation to monitor shared content or to actively search for infringements, and we do not do so. If content is removed, we give reasons to the person who shared it, insofar as we know their contact details (e.g. if they write to us).

7. Information without guarantee

GlowCamp shows you a lot of information that we cannot check ourselves:

We give no guarantee for the accuracy, completeness or currency of this information. Check on site yourself whether a site, a road or a passage is suitable for your vehicle, especially with regard to height, width and weight, and always observe traffic signs and traffic rules.

8. Liability

The free features of GlowCamp are a service provided free of charge. For GlowCamp Pro, the statutory rights in respect of defects in digital products also apply. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health. In the case of slight negligence, we are only liable if we breach an essential obligation, i.e. an obligation whose fulfilment makes the use of GlowCamp possible in the first place and on whose compliance you may regularly rely; in this case, liability is limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. Liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) and other mandatory statutory liability remain unaffected.

Please back up your trip data, e.g. with the app’s cloud backup. The link page is not a backup: when the link expires, the content there is deleted.

In all other cases, our liability is excluded. These limitations also apply in favour of persons for whom we are responsible.

9. Termination and blocking

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, e.g. when new features are added or the legal situation changes. We will announce changes in the app in advance. For links you have already shared, the new version only applies once you continue sharing after the change; otherwise you can stop sharing. For your account, the new version applies if you do not object within 30 days of the announcement; if you object, you can delete your account. We will point out this consequence in the announcement. The current version is always available at this address.

11. Applicable law, dispute resolution, contact

German law applies. If you are a consumer and live in another country, you retain the protection of the mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence.

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If you have any questions or problems, simply write to us at support@glowcamp.de.

Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected by these terms. If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.

13. Friends, public trips and Campfire (from version 1.12.0, with an account)

14. Info about sites, petrol stations and sights (from version 1.12.0, with an account)
