GlowCamp is the travel app for everyone who camps: tent, van, motorhome or caravan. It records your drive by itself (it needs your location for that). The map starts under fog. Where you have been, it clears up.
Now on the App Store for iPhone. On Android, GlowCamp is still in beta: you can’t find it by searching the Play Store yet. Use the Android button for that. There may still be bugs in the beta.

How it works in 3 steps
On iPhone, GlowCamp comes straight from the App Store. On Android, you get the beta in three short steps. After that, everything is easy.
Get the app
Pick your phone:
iPhone
- Tap “Download on the App Store” or search the App Store for “GlowCamp”.
- Tap “Get”. The app is free.
Android (beta)
- Tap “Android: install the beta” and join the test group (with your Google account, free).
- Then open the GlowCamp page on Google Play and confirm “Join”. The wording on your phone may differ slightly.
- Install the app as usual. After joining, it can take a little while.
Start a trip
Tap “Start trip”. The first time, your phone asks for your location twice. Choose “Always” in the end (iPhone: “Always Allow”, Android: “Allow all the time”). Otherwise you have to keep the app open while you drive.
Clear the fog
Hit the road. The map clears up piece by piece as you go. At home, you look back at your review.

Everything runs on your phone. You don’t need an account.
Trip review
Every trip with a cover photo, photos and kilometres. After the trip, you see how far you went: kilometres, legs (one drive from A to B) and milestones. The images here are real trips from the app.
Your travel summary
All trips together: kilometres, milestones and nights in your home on wheels. The app keeps count, you don’t have to enter anything.
Evening diary: your camping travel diary
The app can remind you in the evening with 2 or 3 short questions. You tap your answers, no long text needed. In the trip review you see your entries together with the driving data.

Share a trip with a private link
Family and friends follow your trip in the browser, without the app and without an account. You choose which places and photos they see. The link expires 30 days after the trip.
Checklists: packing, departure, return
Ready-made lists for packing, departure and return. You can add your own items.
Dart throw: your next destination
No idea for the weekend or the next road trip? Say how far it may be (for example 60 km) and which countries are fine. The dart throw suggests up to ten campsites and stopovers, preferably in areas that are still unexplored on your fog map.
Extra for campers with a vehicle
Vehicle file for motorhome, caravan and van
Add your vehicle and keep an eye on maintenance. Several vehicles are possible. Without a vehicle, you can use everything else anyway.
8 languages
GlowCamp comes in German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Polish and Czech. The app uses your phone’s language. The translations are not perfect everywhere yet. You can report mistakes.
Your trips stay on your phone
Your location does not go to us. This is how GlowCamp is built:
- No GlowCamp account, no sign-up.
- Route, photos and diary are stored on your phone.
- A backup to your own iCloud or Google Drive only exists if you switch it on yourself.
- In the app there are no ads and no analytics or tracking services from third parties. This website only measures with your consent (Google Analytics).
- For maps, place search and routes, the app queries map services and our map server. Only what the request needs is sent (such as a map section or a search text), never your saved trips.

We are looking for people who are on the road and tell us honestly what doesn’t work. Tent, van, motorhome, caravan: everyone is welcome.

- Record a real trip.
- Try the checklists and tell us what is missing.

How to give feedback: in the app under Profile → Help & feedback, or by email to support@glowcamp.de. The feedback form on the website is in German only. You don’t need an account. Only category, title and text are sent, no name, no email, no location.
Frequently asked questions about the GlowCamp camping app
What does GlowCamp cost?
GlowCamp is free. There may be extra Pro features later. Right now there are none, and you pay nothing.
Where does my data go?
Route, photos and diary stay on your phone. The app loads maps and routes from the internet. A backup only exists if you switch it on. It then goes to your own iCloud or Google Drive account. More in the privacy policy (German).
Which phones does GlowCamp run on?
iPhone (free on the App Store) and Android phones (still in beta, via a closed test on Google Play).
Does the recording use a lot of battery?
GlowCamp adapts the recording: while driving the app measures more often, when you are parked much less. That keeps the extra battery use as low as possible.
Which languages are available?
German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Polish and Czech.
Is GlowCamp a travel app for tent camping, too, without a vehicle in the app?
Yes. You don’t need the vehicle file. Fog map, trip review, diary, checklists and dart throw work without it. GlowCamp is made for trips by car or vehicle. When you hike on foot, the app does not record well. We have not explicitly tested it on a bike.
